Where are you located?
We are located on Johns Island in Hayes Park off of Maybank Hwy. across the street from the library.
What are your hours?
We are open Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 7pm and Sunday Noon - 5pm unless otherwise noted.
How do I find out about the sandwich of the day?
Follow us on Facebook or Instagram. We post a new sandwich whenever it comes out and when a new sandwich comes out we post it.
What is the difference between Choice & Prime?
The biggest difference between choice and prime cuts of beef is the marbling. The marbling in the Prime cuts are going to be greater, creating more tenderness and depth of flavor.
Do you dry age your own beef?
We do offer dry aged beef that we dry age ourselves in house.
What is the difference between dry aged beef & regular beef?
Dry aged beef is put in a climate controlled environment that allows the molecules in the meat to break down. This results in an ultra tender steak that is rich with nutty & blue cheese notes of flavor.
Where does your beef come from?
We proudly carry Certified Angus Beef, which the closest farm to us is Yon's Family Farm in the mid state of South Carolina.
What is the average protein serving size?
The average protein serving size is about half a pound per adult.
What is the percentage of your ground beef?
We have two different ground beef options. Our special grind (a combination of brisket, chuck and sirloin) is an 80/20 blend, and we also have a lean ground beef which is a 90/10.
How do I place a special order?
There are three ways to place a custom order. You can either stop in the shop, give the shop a call (843) 969-BEEF, or send us an email.
How long do I cook my steak for?
There are too many variables to consider when answering this question. Since everyone's grill, stove top and oven are at different temperatures. Rather use an instant read meat thermometer and go off internal temperature for your desired doneness.
Do I need to place a holiday pre order?
Due to our limited space at High Steaks Butcher Shop it is highly recommended to place holiday pre orders to ensure that you get what you are looking for. We do often order a little extra for last minute shoppers but it is first come first serve.
Do we sell whole or half cows?
Unfortunately at this time we do not due to our limited size.
Do you sell whole pigs?
We do not stock whole pigs, however we can definitely order them for you. We ask to give us at least 15 days notice and the size that you are looking for. You will be required to pick up the pig on the day it is delivered to us.
Do you sell seafood?
Currently we do sell some, primarily lump crab meat, New England lobster tails and Tuna Poke. However stay tuned as we add more!
Do you carry wild game?
We do sell some farm raised wild game in the store. However if there is a specific cut you are looking for please reach out in advance to ensure we have it and if not we can order it for you.
If we are hosting a big party is it better to order ahead?
It is most definitely better to pre order for large events by either stopping into the butcher shop, calling us or emailing us several days in advance to ensure we have what you are looking for.
Do you sell gift cards?
We most certainly do sell gift cards. The best way to purchase one is in store.
